Case study

Networking

Q. Who did you work with?

An investment bank.

Q. Why was RockSALT approached to help?

This company regularly had to run corporate networking events, to which all their clients and prospects would be invited. These events were designed to create a great deal of new business.

However, this wasn’t the case because the companies employees found the task of networking, building rapport and ‘working the room’ very challenging.
Instead, the employees would spend the evening huddled together chatting rather then interacting and hosting the clients.

Q. What did RockSALT do?

We produced a targeted networking training programme, which provided the client-facing employees with many practical pieces of advice on how to interact, host clients and network more effectively.

Q. What did the training programmes do?

They enabled the company’s employees to:

  • Gain a better understanding of how to manage others more professionally
  • Increase their foundation knowledge of managing and leading others
  • Learn how to best fulfil the challenging role of being a manager

They also provided an excellent opportunity for these managers to:

  • Build up a really firm foundation of management and leadership skills
  • Continue to implement these skills as they become more established in their management roles
  • Work with and learn from each other

Q. How did your clients benefit?

“I wasn’t really looking forward to this programme but, to my surprise, Hugh really helped me to uncover why I wasn’t networking effectively. As well as that, he gave me really helpful pieces of advice as to how to network better – which improved my annual sales too.”
